Cottonball, The Truck Stop Chinchilla
by: Angel
I used to have a Chinchilla, once upon a time. I suppose that could be interesting enough because they're expensive and considered an exotic pet but it does get more interesting than that. How I got it is even better.
My dad is a truck driver, like I mentioned before. He was on his way to take a load to Canada when a woman mentioned over the CB that he was giving away a free Chinchilla and at what truck stop it was at. So he went.
Turns out she raises them and this particular baby happened to get the tip of it's tail bit off by its mom. Because of that she couldn't sell it so she decided to give it away. First come first serve. My dad got it.
Dad brought it to me that weekend when he came to get me. I named it, I loved it. It was just darn neat. I actually had Cottonball for a lot of years, and through too many of his girlfriends before he decided to give it away to one of Roxannes friends because she wanted it.
He gave away Cottonball just months before mom and I moved into where we live now. Before here we lived in an apartment building that didn't allow pets. That's why I couldn't take him home with me when I stopped visiting my dad all the time.
I still miss that Chinchilla. I really want another one, but the last time I saw a Chinchilla for sale it was in a pet store and they wanted $150 for it. Not to mention, nothing could ever replace the story of Cottonball, the truck stop Chinchilla.
